Welcome to the home of Fáilte Pafos, the website for the Irish community in Paphos, Cyprus. Fáilte Pafos is a group dedicated to keeping the culture and traditions of Ireland alive in the Irish Expatriate community. We organise events and  gatherings throughout the year with our main event each year being the annual St Patrick’s Day Celebration in Paphos under the patronage of the Irish Ambassador.

Charity Update

We have now sorted out the paperwork from Thursday night’s St Patrick’s Event. The Totals raised for Charity were:

Cancer Patients Support Group Raffle: €634.00
St Michaels Hospice: €1,176.00 (including €72.00 from the silent auction)

Thank you to everyone who supported this event, it was a great night made even better by your support for the charities involved.

Irish Embassy St Patrick’s Reception

H.E. The Irish Ambassador Patrick Scullion welcomed guests to the Hilton Hotel in Nicosia for the annual St Patrick’s Reception. Fortunately, unlike the last 12 years it was indoors as opposed the the previous garden Parties. On arrival the temperature was 6C in Nicosia! There was as always a good turn out with everyone from the President of Cyprus down to fellow peasants all treated to some excellent Irish hospitality.

It was good to meet everyone and catch up on the news from the previous year.

The Morning After

As the early morning haze (in the head) clears it only remains to be said “What a great night”. Thank you to everyone who came along and supported the event, you made it a wonderful night. Your generosity was amazing, the Cancer Patients Support Group who ran the raffle raised €634 for their charity and the profit from the night when everything is sorted is expected to be around €1000. I will confirm the actual amount as soon as we have been through the receipts and bills for the night.

For those who could not be with us, you missed a great night. The food was excellent, the music superb and the company wonderful. Thank you to the The Irish Ambassador Patrick Scullion for being with us and our sponsors Fitzgerald Estates, Zambatas Law and The Chocolate Workshop (who made sure everyone had some of the most amazing chocolates). A big thank you too, to Derek and Maggie from the Kamares Entertainments who did so much to help make it such a successful night.

I will let the pictures tell the rest of the story.

Paddy’s Irish Pub for St Patrick’s.

Paddy’s Irish Pub, Tomb of the Kings Road, Paphos. On Paddy’s Night 17th March, Start by watching the rugby, England v Ireland which starts at 7.00 until 9.00, music starts when rugby finishes. Irish singer, Joe Mc, will sing mostly Irish, as it is St Patrick’s Night, as well as popular hits from Country and Pop.

So come and join us at Paddy’s Irish Pub on Saturday night to celebrate our victory over England in the rugby, or to to drown our sorrows, whichever way the outcome will be the same. Music, food & Craic, the Irish way.
